VSPT Wine Group is reaffirming its commitment to decarbonisation and reported a 13% decrease in its Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions during 2022. The group thus continues to make progress on its roadmap, which it hopes will allow it to reach its goal of Net Zero emissions by 2050.

The company’s strategic itinerary aligns with the United Nations Race to Zero initiative, which VSPT Wine Group is part of as a member of International Wineries for Climate Action (IWCA), an organisation comprised of 140 wineries from around the world that works to decarbonise the global wine industry. VSPT has been a member of IWCA since 2019 and became a Gold-level member in 2023.

VSPT Wine Group was recognised for its work in this area in the IWCA’s recently published third report, showing notable progress on the reduction of Greenhouse Gases (GHG) and working towards a more sustainable future.

Its noteworthy achievements include a 6.1% decrease in the intensity of emissions compared to the base year (2019) and production of 28% of renewable energies for its operations, which is equivalent to a 1.957 ton decrease in CO2 in 2022 according to data verified by the certification firm SGS.

In absolute terms, VSPT Wine Group reduced its emissions by 13% in 2022 compared to the previous year, underscoring the importance of improving the quality and precision of data in the measurement of carbon footprints in order to design more effective reduction strategies.

The entity also has shown a commitment to sustainability through the use of innovative practices. It is saving over 2,000 tons of glass annually through the use of lighter bottles and has an ambitious eco-design policy of setting an average portfolio weight of 400 grams with maximum limits by level, which reflects the company’s proactive approach. The reuse of 99.8% of industrial waste and 100% of organic waste through the biogas plant and composting fields underscores VSPT Wine Group’s comprehensive commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.
