Five VSPT wines among the Top 100 wines of Chile according to James Suckling
The most recent edition of the Top 100 Wines of Chile ranking prepared each year by the portal of wine critic James Suckling has singled out five wines from VSPT Wine Group among the top 100 from that country.
Viña Leyda, Viña San Pedro and Viña Tarapacá were highlighted in the report, confirming the oenological quality of VSPT Wine Group and the excellence of its wines.
Heading up the list of VSPT wines in 28th place with 94 points is Tayu 1865 2021, which received the following tasting note: “A pretty complex pinot with excellent purity. Some grilled herbs and a hint of graphite give definition to the subtle cherry fruit and wild raspberries. Almost a bit austere. Cool and bright on the medium-bodied palate with lots of chalky tannins”.
Viña Leyda had two wines in the ranking, both with 94 points: Leyda Coastal Vineyards Canelo Syrah 2020, which placed 43rd and Leyda Lot 4 Sauvignon Blanc 2022, which ranked 51st. The former was described as: “a serious syrah to enjoy now or hold. Fantastic value”. Meanwhile, the Sauvignon Blanc received the following comment: “Delicious and gastronomic. One of the best.”
Tarapacá Gran Reserva Etiqueta Azul, 2021 vintage, placed 73rd, also with 94 points and was described as follows: “Rich blueberries, blackberries and dark cherries. Hints of graphite, dark chocolate and baking spices. Full-bodied and juicy with crumbled, powdery, silky tannins. Shows lots of poise. Tight and dense”.
Finally, one of Viña San Pedro’s iconic wines, Altair 2021, earned 95 points and ranked 78th with the following tasting note: “Cedary oak with incense, lots of blueberries, blackberries, violets and herbs. Tobacco, too. Just a hint of olives. Almost full-bodied on the palate, but turns juicy and refined with well-structured, chalky tannins. Very long”.
Thus, VSPT Wine Group continues to consolidate its reputation and winemaking credentials through different accolades that showcase the excellent quality and diversity it is capable of offering.
