There is some excellent news for Viña San Pedro in the latest edition of Wine Spectator magazine.
Two wines from its successful portfolio have been selected by the panel of experts from February’s Buying Guide, which this month was chaired by the critic Kim Marcus.
Firstly, the 2013 GatoNegro Sauvignon Blanc from the Central Valley was chosen as Best Value, scoring 86 points. It combines a solid score, modest price and wide distribution.
Marcus praised the GatoNegro for “its lively and fruity style; with melon, citrus and apple flavors, supported by fresh acidity. Light spicy notes show on the finish”.
Also, the 2011 1865 Single Vineyard Carménère from the Maule Valley obtained 91 points and was chosen as a Smart Buy, meaning wines with find character at affordable prices and that are abroad available.
Kim Marcus described the wine as “precise and savory, with a powerful cocoa powder accent to the intense cherry, wild berry and currant flavors. Concentrated notes of clove and olive carry through the finish”.
Two emblematic award-winning ranges that continue to represent the quality and strength of the wines from Viña San Pedro.
