1865 Single Vineyard, el Mejor Cabernet Sauvignon de Chile

  • Thanks to its worldwide “Precision in Winemaking” campaign, the 1865 Single Vineyard range now reigns supreme with the most widely produced grape variety in Chile.
  • Chosen as the Best Cabernet Sauvignon in the XI version of the Annual Wines of Chile Awards (AWOCA), the country’s most reputable awards ceremony for Chilean wines, organized by Wines of Chile.

Once again, 1865 Single Vineyard, Viña San Pedro’s terroir range, was in dazzling form thanks to its overall excellence and the winemakers’ dedication to enological precision. Among the competition’s 665 participating wines, which came from 98 wineries representing every valley in the country, the 2011 vintage of 1865 Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon from the Maipo Valley stood out as the Best Cabernet in Chile.

The wine was awarded a Gold Medal with 93 points and ranked First Place among the most prestigious Cabernet Sauvignon in the country, following three days of intensive blind tasting by 12 judges from Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia and Chile.

Marcelo Garcia, the winemaker in charge of the award-winning range, said: “To win with a Cabernet Sauvignon from the Maipo Valley is a great achievement. First of all, because it’s the most widely produced grape variety in the country, but also because the Maipo Valley is most known for Cabernet Sauvignon. These factors make the competition really difficult, as there are many excellent exponents from the region. This is undoubtedly recognition of the quality of the 1865 range, the teamwork, and the passion we bring throughout the process, from grapevine to bottle”.

The 1865 Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2011 is ruby red in color, intense and deep, with an elegant and strong bouquet of red currants and blueberries, combined with notes of chocolate, mocha and cedar. Concentrated mouthfeel with elegant and ripe tannins. Excellent balance of tannins, acidity and oak. The wine is ideal for accompanying red meats, game birds and mature cheeses.

The 1865 Single Vineyard range pays homage to the year in which Viña San Pedro was founded.
