The results for what are hailed as the “Oscars of Sustainability” were released from London this afternoon, and on this occasion the wine group placed as the undisputed winner in the “Amorim Sustainability Award” category, having previously demonstrated clear advances with regards to sustainability.

In the new version of these annual awards, which is held by the British magazine: The Drinks Business and acknowledges progress made in terms of sustainability for the global alcohol industry, the wine group placed first in the “Amorim Sustainability Award” category.

This important category was created with the Amorim Group, a multinational Portuguese company which leads in cork production. Its purpose is to recognize and issue awards for efforts made by the company over the past three years –with a special focus on the past 12 months- with regards to the efficiency and effectiveness of sustainable practices in the industry.

Today, VSPT has reaffirmed its leadership and commitment, becoming the company with the most sustainability achievements to date in the wine industry. It was the undisputed winner of the category, after demonstrating clear progress in water management, reduction of carbon dioxide emissions and other pollutants, as well as major initiatives to promote social development in the communities relating to the group.
