For seven years, Viña Tarapacá has been consistently working on a Master Plan through which it has taken charge of the conservation and protection of the native species on its estate, turning it into a true Home of Biodiversity. It has now taken another step along this path and sealed an agreement with “1% for the Planet”, formalizing its role as an important global stakeholder in caring for our planet.

Located in the Maipo Valley, the Tarapacá Estate is a unique 2,600-hectare property that is a genuine Home of Biodiversity and also hosts the historic Viña Tarapacá vineyards.

Around 25% of the property today is planted to vine on a terroir that is exceptionally suited to the winery’s extensive portfolio of wines, which have received both Chilean and international awards for their consistency and oenological quality. More than 60% of the remaining acreage is covered with native flora primarily.

To protect, preserve and safeguard this legacy, Viña Tarapacá has begun to implement its Master Plan for Biodiversity, which is focused on practising sustainable viticulture and fostering the growth of native flora and fauna endemic to Central Chile.

The winery’s actions to care for the environment go beyond the Andes Mountains, as Viña Tarapacá recently entered into an agreement with “1% For The Planet,” an organization that offers a unique opportunity to make a positive change to our planet and future generations. This agreement shows that the winery is not only promoting best practices but is also encouraging its people to connect with the earth and be actively responsible for the world we live in.
